It was such a lovely weekend of exploration and play.
We did not have an extra person to take the picture so this photo session turned into a visual perceptual exercises. What is different between picture 1 and picture 2.

The Optimal Brain Organization class is part of the Brain Gym certification track, and focuses on enhancing the understanding and practical experiences of the Brain Gym 101 workshop material. This course also learning about Dominance Profiles(our brain, ear, eye, hand, and foot dominance in times of stress) as a way to better understand our tendencies and use that as a foundation on which to build a more complete, whole brained and bodied person.

Beginning on 2/11/11, 15 Brain Gym practitioners from around the world converged in Ventura, California to spend three days getting certified to teach the "Optimal Brain Organization" course. I was one of the lucky participants, who got to spend three days with the creator of Brain Gym, Paul E. Dennison, and his wife Gail Dennison. Paul and Gail playfully lead us through the dynamic brain model, by far one of the most cutting edge theories about the brain and how it develops and changes throughout life. Paul is very passionate about Brain Gym being used to enhance life and not to "fix" anyone. In the process of balancing the brain, oftentimes the "problems" that used to loom over us begin to morph and disappear, but fixing is not the goal. It is to draw out the answer from the individual. It is a very fine line that exists between facilitating and fixing, and it is one that must be treaded with finesse and care. It was so wonderful to spend time with Paul himself, but also come to the world headquarters of Brain Gym and practice there. To me, the work feels like an extension of his loving nature. His wish that learning be joyful for all. I am so grateful for the impact this work has had in my life and intend to share those learnings and explorations with the world. |
